Mobil SHC Gear 320
Mobil SHC Gear 320 is an exceptional performance synthetic industrial gear oil engineered to deliver outstanding protection for gears and bearings while providing extended lubricant life under severe operating conditions. It is formulated using advanced synthetic base fluids with excellent thermal and oxidation stability combined with a proprietary additive system designed to protect against scuffing, wear and micropitting fatigue. These properties help ensure reliable equipment performance and improved productivity.
One of the key advantages of Mobil SHC Gear 320 is its excellent resistance to micropitting and conventional gear wear mechanisms. The advanced additive system helps protect heavily loaded gear teeth and rolling element bearings, contributing to extended equipment life and reduced maintenance requirements. This makes the product particularly suitable for modern, highly loaded gearboxes using surface-hardened gearing.
Mobil SHC Gear 320 also provides outstanding thermal and oxidation stability. These characteristics help extend oil life, minimise sludge and deposit formation and support cleaner systems. The synthetic base stocks offer excellent low-temperature fluidity and a naturally high viscosity index, allowing reliable lubrication across a wide operating temperature range and improving start-up performance in cold environments.
Another important benefit is its low traction coefficient, which helps reduce friction within gears and rolling element bearings. Lower friction can lead to reduced operating temperatures and improved mechanical efficiency. Mobil SHC Gear 320 also offers excellent rust and corrosion protection, even in the presence of water contamination, along with good demulsibility and resistance to filter plugging, supporting smooth and trouble-free operation.
Mobil SHC Gear 320 is recommended for enclosed industrial gear drives including steel-on-steel spur, helical and bevel gears. It is particularly suitable for modern, heavily loaded gearboxes in industries such as steel, paper, cement, textile and plastics processing. The product is also suitable for plastic extruder gearboxes and applications operating across wide temperature ranges or where corrosion resistance is required.
Physical characteristics include ISO VG 320 viscosity grade with a kinematic viscosity of approximately 320 mm²/s at 40°C and 40.6 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobil SHC Gear 320 has a viscosity index of approximately 181, a flash point of approximately 233°C and a pour point of approximately −48°C. The product also provides excellent micropitting resistance and FZG scuffing performance greater than stage 14, supporting reliable performance in demanding industrial gear applications.
