Millers Oils Alpine Red Concentrate
Millers Oils Alpine Red Concentrate is a red monoethylene glycol (MEG) antifreeze and coolant built on Organic Acid Technology (OAT), which exceeds most of the European and international quality standards. It is suitable for use in petrol and diesel engines, including hybrids, and provides all year round protection.
The formulation is NAP free, meaning it contains no nitrates, amines, phosphates, borates, silicates or other mineral additives. That is the key technical distinction of an OAT coolant. Conventional inorganic inhibitors deplete as they work and lay down deposits on heat transfer surfaces, whereas organic acid inhibitors are consumed only where corrosion is actually occurring. The practical result is increased service life over conventional MEG products, with Alpine Red providing protection for up to 5 years.
Corrosion protection covers multi metal and alloy materials, which matters on any engine combining an aluminium head and block with cast iron, brass or copper elsewhere in the circuit. The product is also compatible with the rubber and plastic materials commonly found in modern cooling systems, so hoses, housings and expansion tanks are not attacked over a long service life.
Excellent heat transfer characteristics provide outstanding engine cooling and component longevity, and lowering the freezing point of the water allows the engine to operate and be protected against frost formation in cold conditions and climates. As a concentrate the level of protection is set by the mix ratio: 25% by volume gives protection to -12°C, 33% to -20°C, 50% to -40°C and 67% to -70°C.
Dilute with deionised or distilled water for optimum frost and heat transfer and corrosion protection in cooling systems. Using deionised or distilled water rather than tap water is not a minor point, as the dissolved minerals in mains water work against the very corrosion protection the coolant is providing.
The performance profile covers BS 6580:2010 (UK), AFNOR NF R15-601 (France), AS 2108 (Australia), ASTM D4985, ASTM D4656 and ASTM D3306 (USA), CUNA NC 956-16 (Italy), FVV Heft R443 (Germany), SAE J 1034 (USA), NATO S-759 and UNE 26361-88 (Spain). It is suitable for Cummins CES 14603, DAF 74002, General Motors GM 6277M, MAN 324 SNF, Mercedes-Benz MB 325.3, Renault 41-01-001, VW Group TL 774F (G12+) and TL 774D (G12) covering VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, Lamborghini and Bugatti, and Volvo VCS.
Typical characteristics are a density of 1.119 g/cm at 20°C, a pH of 8.2 at 50% volume in water, a boiling point of 172°C and a red colour.
