Mobil SHC 825
Mobil SHC 825 is a premium performance synthetic turbine oil engineered to meet the demands of severe industrial gas turbine applications. It is formulated using synthesised hydrocarbon base fluids and a carefully balanced additive system to deliver exceptional resistance to thermal and oxidative degradation while providing reliable lubrication in demanding operating conditions. The formulation is designed to support long oil life and dependable performance in turbines exposed to high thermal stress and cycling operation.
One of the key advantages of Mobil SHC 825 is its excellent resistance to thermal breakdown and deposit formation. The oil maintains stability during high temperature operation and heat soak-back conditions following turbine shutdown. This helps prevent varnish and sludge formation that could interfere with bearing lubrication or affect servo-valve performance, supporting improved reliability and reduced maintenance requirements.
Mobil SHC 825 also offers excellent low-temperature fluidity and a naturally high viscosity index. These characteristics help ensure rapid oil circulation during cold start-up while maintaining effective lubricant film thickness at elevated operating temperatures. This makes the product particularly suitable for turbines operating in remote locations, low ambient temperatures or applications subject to frequent start-stop cycling.
The product provides reliable anti-wear protection together with resistance to rust and corrosion. These properties help protect bearings and critical turbine components, contributing to longer equipment life and reduced downtime. Mobil SHC 825 also delivers good air release and foam resistance, supporting consistent lubrication, stable oil film performance and efficient system operation.
Mobil SHC 825 is recommended for severe stationary gas turbine applications, particularly land-based units used for standby power generation. It is also suitable for industrial gas turbines operating in low ambient temperature environments, as well as total energy systems and combined cycle gas/steam installations requiring long lubricant life and deposit control.
Physical characteristics include ISO VG 46 viscosity grade with a kinematic viscosity of approximately 43.9 mm²/s at 40°C and 7.9 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobil SHC 825 has a viscosity index of approximately 145, a flash point of approximately 248°C and a pour point of approximately −45°C. The product also offers excellent air release, foam control and turbine oil stability of approximately 9,500 hours, supporting long-term performance in demanding gas turbine applications.
