Mobil Velocite No. 3
Mobil Velocite No. 3 is part of the Mobil Velocite Oil Numbered Series, a range of premium performance spindle and light hydraulic oils developed primarily for high-speed spindle bearings in machine tools. These oils are formulated using select low-viscosity base oils and additives that provide oxidation resistance, rust protection and excellent water separation. The formulation supports reliable lubrication and precision performance in high-speed applications.
One of the key advantages of Mobil Velocite No. 3 is its very low viscosity. This makes it suitable for “zero clearance” type spindle bearings operating with extremely close tolerances. The oil helps minimise friction and heat generation, allowing bearings to run cool while maintaining high precision.
Mobil Velocite No. 3 also provides good oxidation resistance and corrosion protection. The formulation helps reduce deposit formation and extend oil service life. It also protects precision components from rust and corrosion, supporting long-term accuracy and reliability.
Another important benefit is its versatility. Mobil Velocite No. 3 can be used in high-speed spindle bearings, precision grinders, jig borers and tracer mechanisms. It may also be used in low-pressure hydraulic systems or sensitive instruments where very low viscosity lubricants are required. The oil helps maintain precision and smooth operation in critical applications.
Physical characteristics include ISO VG 2 viscosity grade with a kinematic viscosity of approximately 2.1 mm²/s at 40°C. Mobil Velocite No. 3 has a flash point of approximately 84°C and a pour point of approximately −36°C. The oil provides excellent cooling, precision lubrication and reliable performance for ultra-high-speed spindle applications.
