Mobilgear XMP 460
Mobilgear XMP 460 is part of the Mobilgear XMP Series, a range of extra high-performance industrial gear oils developed to provide optimum equipment protection and long oil life under extreme operating conditions. These lubricants are formulated using high-quality mineral base oils and an advanced additive system designed to protect against conventional wear modes such as scuffing while also delivering a high level of resistance to micropitting fatigue. The formulation also supports improved lubrication of gearbox rolling element bearings.
One of the key advantages of Mobilgear XMP 460 is its excellent resistance to micropitting wear. The proprietary additive system helps protect heavily loaded, case-hardened gear teeth and extend gear life. This is particularly beneficial in modern high power density gearboxes operating under severe loads and temperatures.
Mobilgear XMP 460 also provides strong oxidation resistance and thermal stability. The formulation resists degradation at high temperatures and helps extend oil service intervals. Excellent rust and corrosion protection, including resistance to seawater and acidic water contamination, helps protect components in demanding environments.
Another important benefit is its wide application capability. Mobilgear XMP 460 is recommended for enclosed industrial gear drives including spur, helical and bevel gears. It is particularly suited for applications prone to micropitting such as wind turbines, plastic extruder gearboxes and equipment in paper, steel, cement and other heavy industries.
Mobilgear XMP 460 also offers excellent demulsibility, filterability and compatibility with ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The oil maintains performance even in water-contaminated systems and does not plug fine filters, helping reduce maintenance requirements and downtime.
Physical characteristics include ISO VG 460 viscosity grade with kinematic viscosity of approximately 460 mm²/s at 40°C and 30.6 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobilgear XMP 460 has density of approximately 0.909 kg/L at 15°C, flash point of approximately 270°C and pour point of approximately −12°C. The oil provides excellent wear protection, micropitting resistance and long service life.
