Shell Morlina S2 B 220
Shell Morlina S2 B 220 is a high-performance industrial bearing and circulating oil designed to provide reliable lubrication and protection for a wide range of industrial machinery and circulation systems. The oil is formulated using high-quality solvent refined base oils combined with a proven rust and oxidation inhibitor additive system. This formulation helps deliver excellent oil stability, reliable equipment protection and consistent lubrication performance across demanding industrial operating environments.
One of the key advantages of Shell Morlina S2 B 220 is its outstanding oxidation stability, which contributes to extended oil service life. Industrial machinery often operates continuously under elevated temperatures, which can accelerate oil degradation. The oil’s advanced inhibitor system helps resist oxidation and thermal breakdown, maintaining its protective properties over extended service intervals. This stability helps reduce sludge formation and oil thickening, contributing to lower maintenance requirements and improved operational efficiency.
The oil also provides reliable wear and corrosion protection for bearings and circulating lubrication systems. Industrial equipment often operates under continuous load, placing stress on bearings and mechanical components. Shell Morlina S2 B 220 forms a durable lubricating film between moving metal surfaces that helps reduce friction and minimise wear. This protective film helps extend the service life of bearings and critical machine components while ensuring reliable lubrication performance in demanding operating environments.
Another important benefit of Shell Morlina S2 B 220 is its excellent water separation performance. Industrial lubrication systems may be exposed to water contamination from condensation, cooling processes or environmental conditions. The oil is formulated to promote rapid demulsification, allowing water to separate easily from the lubricant. This ensures that the oil maintains an effective lubricating film between heavily loaded surfaces while allowing water to be removed through filtration or centrifugation systems. Effective water separation helps protect equipment from corrosion and maintain reliable lubrication performance.
Shell Morlina S2 B 220 also provides good air release characteristics. Air entrainment within circulating oil systems can reduce lubrication efficiency and lead to cavitation damage in pumps. The oil is formulated to release entrained air quickly, helping maintain stable lubrication performance and supporting efficient operation of circulating lubrication systems. This contributes to improved equipment reliability and reduced maintenance requirements.
The lubricant is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications including machine circulation systems, oil-lubricated plain and rolling element bearings, roll-neck bearings and lightly loaded enclosed gear systems where extreme pressure performance is not required. It can also be used for cylinder lubrication in reciprocating gas compressors. Shell Morlina S2 B 220 meets the Morgan MORGOIL® lubricant specification, Danieli Standard 6.124249.F and DIN 51517-1 Type C and DIN 51517-2 CL standards.
Physical characteristics include an ISO viscosity grade of 220 with a kinematic viscosity of approximately 220 mm²/s at 40°C and 18.3 mm²/s at 100°C. The oil has a density of approximately 891 kg/m³ at 15°C, a flash point of approximately 280°C and a pour point of approximately –15°C, supporting reliable lubrication performance across a wide range of industrial operating conditions.
