Shell Spirax S3 TLV
Shell Spirax S3 TLV is a premium low-viscosity universal tractor transmission oil (UTTO) developed to deliver reliable lubrication performance in modern agricultural and off-road equipment. Formulated with advanced base oils and specialised additive technology, the lubricant is designed to provide smooth wet brake operation, stable hydraulic performance and dependable protection for transmission and drivetrain components. The oil is particularly suited for machinery where a single lubricant is used for transmission, differential, hydraulic systems and power take-off units.
One of the key advantages of Shell Spirax S3 TLV is its specialised friction-modified formulation designed to deliver quiet and smooth wet brake operation. Agricultural tractors and off-road equipment commonly use oil-immersed brake systems, which require precise friction characteristics to prevent noise and vibration during braking. The advanced additive system in Shell Spirax S3 TLV provides excellent friction control and is particularly effective in equipment fitted with sintered bronze or graphitic brake linings. The oil can also be used in Caterpillar powershift transmissions requiring a TO-2 type fluid, Sundstrand hydrostatic transmissions and mobile or industrial hydraulic systems operating over a wide temperature range.
The lubricant meets several important industry and OEM specifications including API GL-4, John Deere JDM J20D, Massey Ferguson M1141, DANA-OHTM-UTTO-LV 20B-0002 and ZF 03F. Physical characteristics include a kinematic viscosity of approximately 37 mm²/s at 40°C and 7.5 mm²/s at 100°C with a density of approximately 870 kg/m³ at 15°C. The oil also features a flash point of approximately 190°C and a pour point of approximately –45°C, supporting reliable lubrication performance across a wide range of agricultural operating conditions.
