Millers Oils Millmax 46
Millers Oils Millmax 46 is a high-quality anti-wear hydraulic oil designed for the toughest modern hydraulic systems, helping equipment run smoothly and efficiently. It meets strict original equipment standards including Bosch Rexroth RDE 90235 and Parker HF-0, and is formulated to protect equipment and help prevent downtime.
ISO VG 46 is the most widely specified hydraulic grade in UK industry, and Millmax 46 is suitable across a wide range of applications including industrial hydraulic systems, mobile equipment, injection moulding machines, mining and quarrying, and forestry and agricultural equipment. The single grade covering both fixed plant and mobile equipment is what makes it a practical stock item for a maintenance store.
The zinc-based anti-wear additive system is the core of the formulation, extending equipment lifespan by protecting components from wear at the pump, valve and actuator surfaces where metal-to-metal contact is a risk. Alongside it, excellent resistance to compression allows superb power transfer, which is what the system is actually being asked to deliver.
Three further properties matter in real installations. Thermal and oxidation stability maintains system cleanliness over extended periods, which keeps valves working and filters from loading prematurely. The low-foaming formula reduces aeration and cavitation, protecting the pump and keeping power transfer reliable. Demulsification separates water rather than holding it in suspension, preventing the contamination that leads to rust, corrosion and reduced lubricity.
The oil is compatible with elastomers and seals, promoting longer seal life and minimising maintenance needs, which is often where the real cost of a hydraulic oil change shows up.
The performance profile covers DIN 51524-2 (HLP), ISO 11158 (HM), ASTM D6158, SAE MS 1004, GB 11118.1-2011, JCMAS P041 HK, GM LS-2, AIST 126 and 127, SEB 181222, Bosch Rexroth RDE 90235, Parker HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2, and Eaton E-FDGN-TB002-E. It also meets Fives Cincinnati P70.
Typical characteristics are a density of 0.865 g/ml at 15°C, a kinematic viscosity of 46.0 cSt at 40°C and 7.0 cSt at 100°C, a viscosity index of 114, a pour point of -25°C or below and a flash point of 225°C or above.
