Mobilgard 300 C
Mobilgard 300 C is a premium quality system oil specially formulated for use in two-stroke crosshead marine diesel engines operating under severe conditions. The formulation provides superior engine cleanliness, improved wear protection and extended oil life compared with conventional system oils. It contains sufficient alkalinity to help protect against acids entering the crankcase from fuel sulphur combustion while delivering enhanced load-carrying capability for heavily loaded bearings and gears.
One of the key advantages of Mobilgard 300 C is its enhanced detergency and thermal stability. The formulation helps reduce deposits in piston cooling spaces and crankcases, improving piston cooling efficiency and reducing the risk of piston crown damage. This contributes to improved engine reliability and reduced maintenance requirements.
Mobilgard 300 C also provides strong anti-wear performance. The oil delivers effective lubrication and protection for highly loaded engine components such as bearings and gears. Enhanced load-carrying capability helps extend bearing life while maintaining reliable performance under severe operating conditions.
Another important benefit is its excellent water tolerance and separation capability. Mobilgard 300 C provides effective lubrication even in the presence of water contamination and separates water efficiently. This supports longer oil life, improved rust protection and cleaner crankcase operation.
Mobilgard 300 C is recommended primarily for use as a system oil in modern high-output crosshead diesel engines, particularly those using system oil for piston cooling. It is also suitable for older crosshead diesel engines with water-cooled pistons where crankcase deposits may be a concern. The oil helps reduce piston top burning, prevent deposits and protect heavily loaded components.
Physical characteristics include SAE 30 viscosity grade with kinematic viscosity of approximately 109 mm²/s at 40°C and 11.9 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobilgard 300 C has density of approximately 0.8665, flash point of approximately 245°C and pour point of approximately −24°C. Total base number is approximately 9, supporting acid neutralisation and long service life.
