Mobilgard 312
Mobilgard 312 is a high-performance diesel engine oils developed for trunk piston engines operating on low sulphur distillate fuels in marine and industrial applications. These oils are formulated to provide excellent resistance to oxidation, stable viscosity control and strong corrosion protection during extended service intervals.
One of the key advantages of Mobilgard 312 is its excellent thermal and oxidation stability. The formulation helps resist oil degradation and viscosity increase over long operating periods, allowing extended intervals between inspections and maintenance. This contributes to improved reliability and reduced operating costs.
Mobilgard 312 also provides strong anti-wear protection and detergency performance. The balanced additive system helps reduce ring and liner wear while maintaining engine cleanliness. This helps prevent deposit formation, extend component life and support consistent engine performance.
Another important benefit is its excellent water separation and corrosion protection. Mobilgard 312 provides protection against corrosive wear and maintains effective lubrication in environments where moisture contamination may occur. The oil also offers good TBN retention, supporting extended oil life and improved engine protection.
Mobilgard 312 is intended for use as cylinder and bearing lubricant in marine and industrial diesel engines operating on distillate fuels or light fuel blends. It is particularly effective in high-speed engines, fishing fleets, severe service engines and many medium-speed diesel engines. It may also be used as crankcase lubricant in large crosshead diesel engines operating on high sulphur fuels.
Physical characteristics include SAE 30 viscosity grade with kinematic viscosity of approximately 108 mm²/s at 40°C and 12 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobilgard 312 has density of approximately 0.896, flash point of approximately 266°C and pour point of approximately −9°C. Total base number is approximately 15, providing protection against corrosive wear and extended service life.
