Mobilgear 600 XP 680
Mobilgear 600 XP 680 is part of the Mobilgear 600 XP Series, a range of extra high-performance gear oils developed for enclosed gear drives operating under severe conditions. These oils provide outstanding extreme pressure performance and load-carrying capability, helping protect gears, bearings and seals in modern high power density gearboxes. The balanced formulation helps prevent micropitting and early gear tooth damage while maintaining compatibility with common seal materials.
One of the key advantages of Mobilgear 600 XP 680 is its excellent wear protection. The formulation helps reduce micropitting, surface fatigue and debris denting, extending gear and bearing life. Enhanced bearing protection helps improve equipment reliability and reduce unexpected downtime in demanding heavy-duty applications.
Mobilgear 600 XP 680 also provides strong oxidation resistance and thermal stability. The oil resists sludge and deposit formation, helping maintain clean gearboxes and extend lubricant service life. Excellent rust and corrosion protection helps safeguard steel and copper-containing components in severe operating environments.
Another important benefit is its wide application capability. Mobilgear 600 XP 680 is suitable for industrial spur, helical and bevel gears operating under heavy or shock loads. It may also be used in marine gearing and non-gear applications including heavily loaded plain and rolling contact bearings operating at slow speeds.
Mobilgear 600 XP 680 is recommended for enclosed gear drives with splash or circulation lubrication systems operating at bulk oil temperatures up to approximately 100°C. The formulation helps maintain seal integrity, reduce leakage and improve gearbox reliability.
Physical characteristics include ISO VG 680 viscosity grade with kinematic viscosity of approximately 680 mm²/s at 40°C and 39.2 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobilgear 600 XP 680 has density of approximately 0.91 kg/L at 15°C, flash point of approximately 285°C and pour point of approximately −9°C. The oil provides strong extreme pressure protection and reliable long-term gear performance.
