Mobilmet 763
Mobilmet 763 is part of the Mobilmet 760 Series, a range of extra high-performance neat cutting oils developed for severe machining operations, particularly on difficult-to-machine steels. These oils are chlorine-free and formulated with advanced additive technology to deliver exceptional machining performance, improved tool life and consistent results in demanding industrial environments.
One of the key advantages of Mobilmet 763 is its superior machining capability in severe operations. The formulation helps control built-up edge and reduces tool wear, allowing for longer tool life and reduced downtime. This supports higher productivity and enables machining at increased feed rates while maintaining precision and consistency.
Mobilmet 763 also provides excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Its high lubricity helps reduce friction and heat generation during cutting, resulting in smoother finishes and tighter tolerances. This helps minimise scrap rates and may reduce the need for secondary finishing processes.
Another important benefit is its versatility in severe machining applications. Mobilmet 763 is particularly recommended for deep hole drilling (greater than 20 mm diameter), as well as drilling, tapping, threading, milling, broaching, gear shaping and automatic lathe operations. Its performance makes it well suited for demanding processes involving difficult steels.
Mobilmet 763 is formulated with a light, transparent appearance to ensure clear visibility of the tool and workpiece during machining. It also features anti-mist properties, helping create a cleaner and safer working environment. However, due to its formulation, it is not recommended for use on copper or its alloys.
Physical characteristics include a kinematic viscosity of approximately 18 mm²/s at 40°C and 4.0 mm²/s at 100°C, with a flash point of approximately 180°C and density of around 0.87 kg/L at 15°C. Mobilmet 763 delivers excellent performance, extended tool life and high-quality machining results in severe-duty applications.
