Mobilmet 766
Mobilmet 766 is part of the Mobilmet 760 Series, a range of extra high-performance neat cutting oils developed for severe machining operations, particularly on difficult-to-machine steels. These chlorine-free oils are formulated with advanced additive technology to provide exceptional lubricity, reduced tool wear and consistent machining performance in demanding industrial environments.

The formulation helps control built-up edge and significantly reduce tool wear, enabling longer tool life and minimising downtime for tool changes. Mobilmet 766 also delivers excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Its high lubricity helps reduce friction and heat at the cutting interface, resulting in smoother finishes and tighter tolerances. This contributes to improved product quality and reduced need for secondary finishing operations.
Another important benefit is its suitability for a wide range of severe machining applications. Mobilmet 766 is recommended for tapping, threading, milling, gear shaving, gear shaping, broaching, planing, parting-off and automatic lathe operations. It is particularly effective in heavy-duty processes involving hard or difficult-to-machine steels.
Mobilmet 766 is formulated with a light, transparent appearance to provide clear visibility of the work area during machining. It also features anti-mist properties, helping maintain a cleaner and safer working environment. Due to its aggressive formulation, it is not recommended for use with copper and its alloys.
Physical characteristics include a kinematic viscosity of approximately 36 mm²/s at 40°C and 6.0 mm²/s at 100°C, with a flash point of approximately 205°C and density of around 0.88 kg/L at 15°C.
