Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 560
Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 560 is a third-generation, high performance 5 mm²/s synthetic hindered ester turbine engine oil developed to withstand the increasingly severe operating environments of modern high-powered, high-compression gas turbine engines. It incorporates a carefully selected and finely balanced additive system designed to enhance thermal and oxidation stability while delivering low coking performance and improved load carrying capability.
Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 560 was specifically engineered to overcome the limitations of earlier generation oils, which could be pushed beyond their thermal limits and lead to coke formation in high-temperature bearing areas. By reducing deposit formation and maintaining cleaner bearing compartments, the oil supports improved reliability and lower maintenance costs.
The oil maintains excellent viscosity stability across a wide temperature range, with controlled viscosity at low temperatures and strong high-temperature film strength. It demonstrates low evaporation loss, strong corrosion and oxidation stability, and excellent performance in demanding bearing test rig evaluations. Thermal stability testing confirms controlled metal weight change, limited viscosity variation and minimal acid number increase under extended high-temperature exposure.
Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 560 is fully approved to MIL-PRF-23699G Grade HTS (High Thermal Stability) and SAE AS5780D Grade SPC (Standard Performance Capability). These specifications reflect more stringent performance requirements than earlier turbine oil standards, confirming its suitability for modern commercial and military turbine engines.
The oil carries extensive OEM approvals, including Pratt & Whitney (521C Type II), General Electric D-50 TF 1, CFM (CFM56 and LEAP series), Rolls-Royce (RB211, Tay, Spey, BR710 and others), IAE V2500 series, Engine Alliance GP7200 series and Safran Helicopter Engines models. It is also approved for use in Honeywell and Pratt & Whitney APUs requiring 5 cSt oils, as well as industrial and marine derivatives of major aero engines.
Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 560 provides cleaner engine operation, improved load carrying capacity and extended bearing life in both new and existing engines. As a synthetic ester oil, it should not be used with incompatible seal materials and may affect certain paints and plastics.
