Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 750
Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 750 is a 7.5 mm²/s synthetic ester lubricating oil developed to meet the requirements of DERD 2487 (now DEF STAN 91-98). It was specifically formulated to provide a high standard of lubrication in British civil gas turbines, particularly turbo-prop engines where enhanced load carrying performance is required for propeller reduction gearboxes.
The oil delivers strong load carrying capability, making it especially suitable for turbo-prop installations where gearbox stresses demand robust film strength and reliable protection under high load conditions. It passes the IP 166 load carrying ability test in accordance with DEF STAN 91-98 requirements, confirming its suitability for reduction gearbox applications.
Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 750 demonstrates excellent thermal and oxidative stability. It passes high-temperature oxidative stability testing and corrosivity requirements under DEF STAN 05-50 procedures, supporting long-term cleanliness and protection of internal engine components. The formulation also exhibits controlled total acidity and strong resistance to deposit formation, helping maintain system integrity over extended service periods.
Low-temperature performance is a key characteristic of this grade. With a pour point of –60°C (typical) and viscosity at –40°C well within specification limits, the oil maintains reliable fluidity in cold operating environments. Its flash point significantly exceeds minimum specification requirements, supporting safe high-temperature operation. Controlled foaming characteristics, low solid particle contamination levels and strong corrosion protection further reinforce its suitability for critical aerospace applications.
The product meets DEF STAN 91-98 and is equivalent to French AIR 3517A. It carries NATO Code O-149 (equivalent O-159) and Joint Service Designation OX-38. It is approved for Rolls-Royce Dart and Gnome engines, Safran Helicopter Engines Astazou, Artouste and Marbore models, Honeywell APUs requiring 7.5 cSt oils, and Sikorsky S61N helicopter transmissions.
As a synthetic ester oil, Shell AeroShell Turbine Oil 750 should not be used in contact with incompatible seal materials and may affect certain paints and plastics.
