Shell Mysella S3 N 40
Shell Mysella S3 S 40 is a high-performance stationary gas engine oil developed for use in modern four-stroke spark-ignition engines that require a medium-ash lubricant. Formulated using high-quality base oils and advanced additive technology, it is designed to provide reliable protection, extended oil life and consistent performance in demanding gas engine applications. The lubricant is particularly well suited to engines operating on natural gas as well as more aggressive sour gases such as landfill gas, biogas and sewage gas. It is also suitable for engines that traditionally require a medium-ash oil to help protect the valve seating area of the cylinder head.

Shell Mysella S3 S 40 is approved by major engine manufacturers including INNIO Jenbacher Type 2 and 3 engines for Fuel Class B and C, MAN 3271-4, Rolls-Royce KG-1, KG-2 and KG-3 for biogas operation, and Waukesha cogen applications using pipeline quality natural gas. It also meets requirements for selected MAN Ruston and Wärtsilä engine applications.
Physical characteristics include a kinematic viscosity of approximately 135 mm²/s at 40°C and 13.5 mm²/s at 100°C with an SAE viscosity grade of 40. The oil has a density of approximately 894 kg/m³ at 15°C, a flash point of approximately 230°C, a pour point of approximately –18°C, a base number of 8.5 mg KOH/g and a sulphated ash content of approximately 0.9% wt. These properties support dependable lubrication and protection in demanding stationary gas engine operating conditions.
