Shell Rimula R3+ 30
Shell Rimula R3+ 30 is a high-quality heavy-duty diesel engine oil formulated to provide dependable protection and performance across a wide range of diesel engine applications. Developed using high-quality base oils and advanced additive technology, the lubricant helps maintain engine cleanliness, reduce wear and support long engine life in demanding operating environments. Shell Rimula R3+ oils are designed to adapt to operating conditions while delivering consistent protection and performance for diesel engines used in both mobile and stationary equipment.
A key advantage of Shell Rimula R3+ 30 is its ability to maintain excellent piston cleanliness. Diesel engines operating under heavy loads or extended running conditions can generate deposits that affect performance and efficiency. The oil’s advanced detergent and dispersant additive system helps prevent the build-up of harmful deposits on pistons and other critical engine components. This helps maintain efficient combustion, stable engine operation and reliable performance over extended service intervals.
Shell Rimula R3+ 30 also provides strong protection against engine wear. Moving components inside diesel engines are subject to significant mechanical loads and friction during operation. The lubricant forms a durable protective film between metal surfaces, helping reduce friction and protect components such as pistons, cylinder liners and bearings from excessive wear. Maintaining a clean engine environment also contributes to reduced wear, helping extend engine life and lower maintenance costs.
Another important benefit of Shell Rimula R3+ 30 is its high resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation. The lubricant maintains stable viscosity characteristics even under demanding operating conditions, helping ensure consistent lubrication performance throughout the oil service interval. This stability supports long engine life and helps maintain engine efficiency during extended operation.
Shell Rimula R3+ 30 is suitable for use in a variety of diesel engine applications including off-highway equipment, construction machinery and older on-highway diesel vehicles where monograde engine oils are specified. It may also be used in certain stationary equipment such as pumps and engines operating continuously under steady-state conditions. In some cases, engine oil technology may also be specified for use in transmissions and hydraulic systems, where Shell Rimula R3 monograde oils can provide dependable protection and performance.
The oil meets API CF performance requirements and carries approvals including MAN 270 and MTU Category 1, while also meeting the requirements of the MB 228.0 specification. Physical characteristics include a kinematic viscosity of approximately 93 mm²/s at 40°C and 11 mm²/s at 100°C with a viscosity index of approximately 103. The oil has a density of approximately 0.89 kg/l at 15°C, a flash point of approximately 242°C and a pour point of approximately –18°C, supporting reliable engine protection across a range of operating conditions.
