Total CYL C 100
Total CYL C 100 is a premium straight-mineral steam cylinder oil formulated for the lubrication of reciprocating steam engines operating under superheated steam conditions, with particular suitability for systems where steam condensate is recovered and recycled. Manufactured from highly refined paraffinic base stocks, CYL C 100 delivers the high natural viscosity index and high flash point necessary to maintain a protective lubricant film on cylinder walls and valve gear at the elevated temperatures of superheated steam service. Its low carbon residue minimises the formation of hard deposits on piston rings, valves and exhaust passages, a critical factor in maintaining engine efficiency and reducing maintenance intervals. Excellent compatibility with elastomeric seals and packing materials extends gland life, while the oil’s natural separability from water assists in condensate recovery without forming stable emulsions. Conforms to ISO 6743/0Z classification. Recommended for industrial steam engines, marine steam plant, heritage steam locomotives, and similar applications operating with superheated steam at high temperatures.
