Mobil Rarus 424
Mobil Rarus 424 is formulated with high-quality mineral base oils and a high-performance additive system to deliver reliable protection and consistent performance in compressors operating under mild to severe conditions.
One of the key advantages of Mobil Rarus 424 is its excellent oxidation and thermal stability. The formulation helps reduce sludge and deposit formation, allowing longer operating periods between maintenance intervals and improving overall compressor cleanliness. This contributes to improved efficiency and reduced downtime.
Mobil Rarus 424 also provides strong anti-wear and load-carrying performance. Its high FZG rating helps protect rings, cylinders, bearings and gears, making it suitable for compressor systems employing gears and bearings as well as crankcase and cylinder lubrication.
Another important benefit is its low ash and low carbon-forming characteristics. These properties help improve valve performance, reduce deposits in discharge lines and minimise the risk of fires or explosions within discharge systems. This ensures reliable long-term compressor operation.
Mobil Rarus 424 also offers excellent water separability and corrosion protection. The oil helps reduce emulsions and carryover to downstream equipment, while protecting compressor components from rust and corrosion. This supports improved system reliability and extended equipment life.
Mobil Rarus 424 is recommended for single and multi-stage reciprocating air compressors, rotary screw compressors, rotary vane compressors and centrifugal compressors. It is particularly suitable for continuous high temperature operation and compressors with a history of deposit formation or oil degradation.
Physical characteristics include ISO VG 32 viscosity grade with a kinematic viscosity of approximately 32 mm²/s at 40°C and 5.4 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobil Rarus 424 has a viscosity index of around 105, a density of approximately 0.866 kg/l at 15°C and a flash point of approximately 236°C. The product also provides strong load carrying capability with an FZG fail stage of 12 and excellent rust protection performance, supporting reliable compressor lubrication.
