Mobilgard ADL 40
Mobilgard ADL 40 is part of the Mobilgard ADL Series, a range of high-performance diesel engine oils developed for medium- and high-speed engines operating under high Brake Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP) conditions using distillate fuels. These oils feature a balanced formulation designed to combat lacquer formation, minimise deposits and provide strong protection for heavily loaded components in severe duty applications.
One of the key advantages of Mobilgard ADL 40 is its excellent engine cleanliness performance. Enhanced detergency and dispersancy help reduce ring belt deposits, minimise liner lacquering and prevent piston ring groove deposits. This contributes to improved piston cleanliness, reduced oil consumption and extended overhaul intervals.
Mobilgard ADL 40 also provides superior load-carrying and anti-wear performance. The formulation helps protect piston rings, liners and bearings in high-output engines. Stay-in-grade shear stability supports consistent viscosity control, helping reduce wear and maintain reliable lubrication under severe operating conditions.
Another important benefit is its strong thermal and oxidation stability. Mobilgard ADL 40 helps reduce sludge formation, top deck deposits and bore polishing while maintaining lubricant performance over extended service intervals. The high TBN reserve provides protection against corrosive wear when operating on fuels containing sulphur.
Mobilgard ADL 40 is intended for high BMEP medium- and high-speed diesel engines in marine and shipboard applications. It is particularly suited for severe duty engines requiring improved detergency, dispersancy and liner lacquer control. The oil is also suitable for marine gearing applications requiring strong load-carrying capability.
Physical characteristics include SAE 40 viscosity grade with kinematic viscosity of approximately 132 mm²/s at 40°C and 14.7 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobilgard ADL 40 has flash point of approximately 239°C, pour point of approximately −21°C and total base number of approximately 12. The oil provides reliable lubrication, cleanliness control and extended engine protection in severe marine diesel engine applications.
