Mobilmet 423
Mobilmet 423 is part of the Mobilmet 420 Series, a range of premium multi-purpose cutting oils formulated for light to moderate duty machining applications. These oils are chlorine-free, non-staining and non-corrosive, making them suitable for use on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The formulation uses high-quality base oils and carefully selected additives to deliver reliable machining performance while maintaining a clean and efficient working environment.
One of the key advantages of Mobilmet 423 is its excellent machining performance. The oil helps control built-up edge and reduces tool wear, enabling longer tool life and improved productivity. This allows for higher feed rates and machining speeds while maintaining consistent quality, helping reduce downtime and increase overall efficiency.
Mobilmet 423 also provides excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Its lubricating properties help produce high-quality finished components, often reducing the need for additional finishing operations such as grinding. This contributes to improved product quality and lower production costs.
Another important benefit is its versatility. Mobilmet 423 can be used across a wide range of machining operations and materials, including aluminium, copper, brass, bronze, steels and cast irons with moderate hardness. It is also suitable for use as a machine tool lubricant and in light-duty hydraulic systems, helping reduce the need for multiple fluids and minimising cross-contamination.
Mobilmet 423 is formulated to be light in colour and transparent, providing clear visibility of the work area during operation. It also offers low misting characteristics and resistance to foaming, helping maintain a cleaner and safer working environment. The oil separates readily from swarf and is easily filterable, supporting longer fluid life and reduced waste.
Mobilmet 423 is recommended for machining aluminium, magnesium and copper alloys, as well as steels and cast irons up to approximately 200 Brinell hardness. It is particularly effective in operations involving difficult-to-machine non-ferrous alloys such as silicon-bronze and copper-nickel.
Physical characteristics include ISO VG 15 viscosity grade with kinematic viscosity of approximately 15 mm²/s at 40°C and 3.5 mm²/s at 100°C. Mobilmet 423 has density of approximately 0.859 kg/L at 15°C, flash point of approximately 182°C and pour point of approximately −15°C. The oil delivers reliable machining performance, excellent surface finish and extended tool life in a wide range of applications.
