Shell AeroShell Grease 14 is a helicopter multi-purpose grease formulated from a high-quality mineral base oil thickened with a calcium soap system. It is specifically designed to provide outstanding anti-fret performance and strong resistance to moisture-induced corrosion, making it particularly suitable for demanding rotary-wing aircraft applications. The grease is oxidation and corrosion inhibited, supporting extended service life and reliable component protection.
This product is recognised as the leading helicopter multi-purpose grease and is approved by all major helicopter manufacturers. Owing to its exceptional anti-fret properties, Shell AeroShell Grease 14 is particularly well suited for the lubrication of helicopter main and tail rotor bearings, splines and associated components. These areas are subject to vibration, oscillation and shock loading, where fretting wear can occur without adequate protection.
Shell AeroShell Grease 14 operates effectively across a temperature range of –54°C to +75°C. It demonstrates excellent low-temperature torque performance, ensuring smooth operation during cold starts and in extreme cold environments. At the upper end of its operating range, it maintains structural stability and consistent lubrication characteristics, helping to protect bearings and moving components during operation.
The grease exhibits strong resistance to oxidation, with controlled pressure rise during extended oxidation testing. It also shows good oil separation control and water stability, maintaining penetration characteristics even after prolonged exposure to water and mechanical working. These properties support reliable lubrication performance in humid or wet operating conditions often encountered in helicopter service.
Shell AeroShell Grease 14 meets MIL-G-25537C and DEF STAN 91-51 requirements and carries NATO Code G-366 and Joint Service Designation XG-284.
