Shell AeroShell Grease 58
Shell AeroShell Grease 58 is an advanced general-purpose and aircraft wheel bearing grease formulated from a synthetic base fluid thickened with a lithium complex soap system. Designed to exceed the requirements of SAE AMS3058 Wide Temperature Range Lithium Complex Aircraft Wheel Bearing Grease specification, it offers an outstanding combination of high load carrying performance, corrosion protection, mechanical stability, oxidation resistance and wear resistance.
The grease operates effectively across a temperature range of –54°C to +175°C, maintaining stable consistency and lubrication characteristics in both extreme cold and elevated temperature conditions. Its high dropping point and strong oxidation stability support reliable performance during prolonged high-temperature service, while excellent low-temperature torque properties ensure dependable operation in cold start conditions.
Shell AeroShell Grease 58 is particularly recommended for severe operating environments involving high bearing loads, high speeds and wide temperature fluctuations. It demonstrates strong resistance to water washout and corrosive fluids, making it suitable for applications where moisture ingress or harsh environmental exposure is likely. Controlled oil separation and low evaporation loss further contribute to extended grease life and reduced maintenance frequency.
Performance testing confirms high extreme-pressure weld load capability, strong dynamic rust prevention performance and excellent roll stability, even in the presence of water contamination. Copper corrosion resistance testing and oxidation stability data further demonstrate the grease’s ability to protect critical components over extended service intervals.
The wide range of approved applications includes aircraft wheel bearings, engine accessories, control systems, actuators, screw-jacks, servo mechanisms, electric motors, helicopter rotor bearings, instruments, airframe lubrication points, hinge pins, static joints and landing gear assemblies. Shell AeroShell Grease 58 is the latest member of the AeroShell Lithium Complex Grease portfolio, which also includes Shell AeroShell Greases 33 and 64.
Shell AeroShell Grease 58 meets SAE AMS3058 and AIMS 09-06-003 requirements. As a synthetic lithium complex grease, it should not be used in contact with incompatible seal materials.
