Shell AeroShell Grease 6
Shell AeroShell Grease 6 is a general-purpose mineral grease formulated with a high-quality mineral base oil thickened using a clay-based thickener system. It is oxidation and corrosion inhibited and provides good all-round lubrication properties within a defined operating range. Designed for dependable airframe service, it combines water resistance, mechanical stability and low noise capability for routine aircraft lubrication tasks.
The grease operates effectively within a temperature range of –40°C to +121°C, making it suitable for a broad range of standard aircraft operating environments. Within this range, Shell AeroShell Grease 6 maintains consistent consistency and lubricating performance, helping to protect bearings and moving components from wear and corrosion.
Shell AeroShell Grease 6 is recommended for use in antifriction bearings, gearboxes and plain bearings in airframe applications where operating conditions fall within its specified temperature limits. It offers good oxidation stability, controlled oil separation and effective resistance to water washout. These properties help maintain lubrication integrity and reduce the risk of premature component wear.
Performance testing confirms stable worked penetration characteristics, good resistance to mechanical degradation after extended working, and reliable copper corrosion and rust prevention performance. The grease also demonstrates acceptable extreme pressure load carrying capability and low-temperature torque characteristics, supporting smooth operation during cold start conditions.
Shell AeroShell Grease 6 meets MIL-PRF-24139B and is equivalent to the obsolete MIL-G-7711A specification. It also complies with DCSEA 382/A and carries NATO Code G-382. These approvals confirm its suitability for general-purpose aviation lubrication tasks where a mineral-based grease is specified.
