Shell Corena S2 P 68 is a high-quality air compressor oil specifically designed to deliver dependable lubrication performance in high-pressure reciprocating (piston) air compressors. It is suitable for compressors operating with air discharge temperatures of up to 220°C at elevated pressures, providing reliable protection and consistent efficiency in standard life applications.
A key benefit of Shell Corena S2 P 68 is its ability to support long oil life and extended maintenance intervals. The formulation resists the formation of carbon deposits and lacquer on valves and piston crowns, even at high working temperatures and pressures. By reducing deposit build-up, compressors can remain in service for longer periods while maintaining efficient operation and reducing the frequency of valve and piston maintenance.
Shell Corena S2 P 68 provides outstanding wear protection, helping to safeguard internal metal surfaces against corrosion and wear. Shell Corena S2 P 68 is suitable for industrial reciprocating air compressors and may also be used in breathing air compressors, provided appropriate clean-up apparatus is employed to ensure the produced air is fit for breathing. It meets DIN 51506 VBL and ISO 6743-3A-L DAA (Normal Duty) specifications.
Typical physical characteristics include ISO VG 68 viscosity grade, kinematic viscosity of 68 mm²/s at 40°C and 7.8 mm²/s at 100°C, density of 883 kg/m³ at 15°C, flash point minimum 195°C and pour point of –18°C. It also demonstrates good rust prevention (ASTM D665B Pass) and water separability at 54°C of 30 minutes.
Shell Corena S2 P 68 is compatible with sealing materials commonly used in air compressors.
