Shell Gadus S2 A320 2
Shell Gadus S2 A320 2 is a high-performance multipurpose extreme pressure grease designed for industrial and marine equipment operating under demanding conditions. The grease is formulated using mineral base oil combined with a calcium soap thickener, producing a smooth textured lubricant capable of delivering reliable protection in applications where water exposure and heavy loads are common.
A key performance advantage of Shell Gadus S2 A320 2 is its excellent resistance to water wash-out. In many industrial and marine environments, lubricated components are frequently exposed to moisture, water spray or wash-down procedures. The calcium-based thickener system allows the grease to maintain its protective lubrication film even when subjected to water contamination. This capability helps prevent lubricant loss and ensures that critical components remain properly protected during operation.
The grease also delivers reliable extreme pressure performance. Equipment operating under heavy loads requires lubricants capable of maintaining a protective film between moving metal surfaces. Shell Gadus S2 A320 2 contains additives designed to protect components from excessive wear under high load conditions, helping extend equipment life and maintain consistent operating performance.
Shell Gadus S2 A320 2 provides dependable lubrication for plain bearings operating under arduous conditions, particularly where equipment is exposed to water or contaminants. Its formulation ensures stable lubrication performance in applications where sealing conditions may be poor or where equipment operates in wet environments. This makes it particularly suitable for heavy-duty mechanical components in industrial and marine sectors.
The grease is commonly used for stern tube bearings, cranes, davits, winches and windlass equipment on marine vessels. It can also be used for general wire rope lubrication and for open gear lubrication where strong adhesion and water resistance are required. These applications often involve heavy loads, sliding contact surfaces and exposure to harsh environmental conditions, making the grease’s performance characteristics particularly valuable.
It should be noted that Shell Gadus S2 A320 2 is not recommended for rolling element bearings. Instead, the grease is specifically intended for plain bearings and sliding components operating under moderate temperatures and heavy load conditions where strong extreme pressure properties and water resistance are required.
Typical physical characteristics include NLGI grade 2 consistency with a calcium soap thickener and mineral base oil. Base oil viscosity is approximately 320 mm²/s at 40°C and 16.5 mm²/s at 100°C. The grease has worked cone penetration of 265–295 (0.1 mm) and a dropping point of approximately 85°C. It also offers fair pumpability over long distances, allowing it to be dispensed through standard lubrication systems.
